Kitesurf in Essaouira: the wind capital, with prices that don't fly away
The trade wind that blows 300 days a year made Essaouira a world kitesurf capital — and Moulay Bouzerktoun, 20 minutes north, a legendary spot. Courses here are worth their price, but only when everything is included: IKO instructor, latest-generation kites, insurance and rescue boat. Our ranges include all of it.

How it works, straight talk
Tell us your level and dates: we answer with the final course price and the day-by-day plan around the wind forecast. Complete beginners take the 10–12h IKO course (kite control on the beach, body drag, water start, first rides); riders who need to consolidate take 6h refreshers or private hours.
Lessons run in the main bay (side-onshore, safe for learning) and at Moulay Bouzerktoun for advanced riders. Best wind: April–October, with July–August the strongest. We confirm the plan the day before based on the real forecast — if there's no wind, the hours are rescheduled, not lost.

Frequently asked questions
How many hours do I need to ride independently?
The standard is the 10–12h course: most students manage their first rides by hour 8–10 and reach IKO level 2–3 (independent with supervision). It depends on wind consistency and your balance — your instructor gives an honest assessment on day one.
Is the wind in Essaouira too strong for beginners?
No: lessons are scheduled in the morning or in the lighter part of the day, and the bay's side-onshore wind is the safest setup for learning. July–August is strong-wind season — great for progression, with smaller kites.
What if there's no wind during my course?
Hours are never lost: they're rescheduled within your stay or refunded pro-rata if rescheduling is impossible. We track the forecast and confirm the plan every evening.
What's the difference between the bay and Moulay Bouzerktoun?
The bay (in town) is the learning spot: side-onshore wind, sandy bottom, rescue boat. Moulay, 20 min north, is the wave spot for independent riders — we organise it as a day trip once you're certified.
Do I need to be fit or can anyone learn?
Normal fitness is enough: the harness carries the pull, not your arms. Minimum age is usually 12 (or ~40 kg).
