Cooking class in Essaouira: from the souk to your own tagine
Buy the saffron in the spice souk, choose the fish at the port stalls, then cook your own tagine in a medina kitchen with a Moroccan chef — and eat what you made. It's the experience people remember longest, and the ranges here include everything: market visit, ingredients, class, recipes and the meal.

How it works, straight talk
The classic format is a half-day (4h): you start in the souk with the chef choosing vegetables, spices and (for fish classes) the morning's catch, then move to a riad kitchen or a family home. You'll prepare a full menu — salad, tagine or pastilla, bread, mint tea — hands-on, in small groups of 4–8.
Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free menus are no problem: Moroccan cuisine is naturally flexible. Private classes (70–80€+/person) go deeper — three courses, your choice of dishes, and the chef's family recipes to take home. Afternoon and evening slots available.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need cooking skills?
None. The class is hands-on but guided step by step — beginners leave having made a real tagine, and keen cooks can ask for advanced techniques (pastilla, preserved lemon, spice blends).
Can you handle allergies and diets?
Yes — vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and most allergies are easy with Moroccan cuisine. Tell us in your request and the menu is adapted before the market visit.
Where does the class take place?
In a riad kitchen or family home inside the medina, 5–10 minutes' walk from the main square. The exact address is in your voucher.
What will we cook?
The classic menu: Moroccan salads, a tagine (chicken-lemon, fish or vegetable) and mint tea. Private classes choose their own menu in advance — pastilla and couscous included as options.
